The Chicago Cubs activated utility man Matt Shaw from the injured list on Friday and optioned outfielder Kevin Alcantara to Triple-A Iowa.
Shaw, 24, was placed on the injured list June 29 with a sprained left hand.
He was batting .246 with four homers and 20 RBIs in 56 games. The 2023 first-round draft pick went 6-for-19 with four RBIs in five rehab appearances at Iowa.
Alcantara, 24, is hitting .240 with one homer and six RBIs in 24 games with the Cubs this season.
