Deja Dee

Monday - Friday: 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Born July 11th, Deja began performing for family and friends at a young age. If you were to ask her aunts about these mini-concerts, they would tell you how she'd imitate Diana Ross, tying a robe around her head representing her long locks, and standing on her grandmother's hope chest to "go to town"!At that point,it was obvious Deja would mold her life around entertainment.

After attending UNC-Greensboro, Deja started her career in radio January 1995 at POWER97-WQMG. It was only a few months of filling in for everyone and hosting the Saturday Night House Party, when she landed her first full-time position as 'Yo Girlfriend from 6-10. Deja then moved on to join the Morning Show at 102JAMZ-WJMH,and ventured to wake people up here in Charleston in 1997. Deja left Charleston in 1999 to work with someone who inspired her to get into radio as the new morning team in Raleigh,NC. And now she's back...as your Mid-day Host...

When asked about her most embarrassing moment-"When I mistook a life-sized statue as a dead body in the back of a truck. The police,FBI,Fire Dept.,EMS and other officials were all part of the mistaken identity!"

Quarters to Africa

Hi Z93JAMZ and Listeners of the Charleston Low Country listening area.  This is Cherry in the Ghanzi, Botswana Africa listening audience.

We here want to send a THANK YOU to Z93 JAMZ and the Listeners for supporting our children of Ghanzi District!  Some of the children of the District want to thank you for providing new shoes, socks, pencils, shapers, and sweets (we call candy).  Miss Deja Dee of Z93JAMZ visited Ghanzi in December 2009 at her Christmas break and before coming challenged the Charleston listeners to drop a quarter in a box to buy shoes for the children.  In two days she collected a total of $193.00 in quarters which is 1200 Pula (money of Botswana).  That P1,200.00 purchased shoes and other things for 24 pre and primary school children.

Because of your community’s generous gift of giving you have made a positive impact in the lives of 24 children of the world.  It is a pleasure to know that a quarter (.25cents) can go so far.

Check out the pictures of the children attached.

Thanks

Cherry
