Jay-Z's 40/40 Club in Atlantic City to Remain Closed
4:38AM Wednesday
March 13, 2013

"Grand opening, grand closing."  Jay-Z's 40/40 Club in Atlantic City, New Jersey, has shuttered it doors.  The spot quietly closed in October, and the Press of Atlantic City reports that co-owner Jay and his team have no plans to re-open the upscale sports bar, nightclub and restaurant.

A 40/40 spokesman tells the newspaper that the club's lease ended around the same time Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast.  "There was a big hole in the roof...," says spokesman Ron Berkowitz.  "With the end of the lease and with Sandy, we decided we had a great run, and it was time to move on."

Since it opened in 2005, the Atlantic City 40/40 Club waved in the likes of Jay, Beyonce, Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj.  The Press of Atlantic City notes that the nightspot had faced increased competition from other Atlantic City clubs in recent years.
